Effective Home Remedies for Alopecia Areata (Puzhuvettu)

September 1, 2019 by sharvayonibeauty Leave a Comment

Alopecia Areata, commonly known as Puzhuvettu in Tamil, is a condition characterized by the absence of hair in specific patches on the scalp, beard, or mustache. It is believed to be caused by a lack of resistance in the hair roots. Factors such as allergic reactions, stress, poor diet, and environmental pollutants contribute to this condition. While artificial treatments are available, natural remedies offer safe and effective solutions. In this article, we will explore various home remedies for Puzhuvettu that can promote hair growth and alleviate the condition.

Mustard Oil – Stimulate Hair Growth

Mustard oil has long been used in traditional hair care practices. Its benefits extend to treating Puzhuvettu as well. Here’s how you can use it:

Gather the Required Ingredients:

  • Mustard Oil

Application Method:

  • Apply mustard oil regularly to the affected area.
  • For better results, leave the oil on overnight and wash it off with plain water the next day.

How it Works:

Mustard oil stimulates hair growth by improving blood circulation to the hair follicles. It also provides essential nutrients, proteins, and omega-3 fatty acids necessary for healthy hair growth. Additionally, its antibacterial and antifungal properties help prevent hair loss and promote overall hair health.

White Karisalankanni (Bhringraj) – Promote Hair Growth

White Karisalankanni, also known as Bhringraj, is a revered herb in South India. Its antimicrobial properties make it an effective remedy for Puzhuvettu. Follow these steps to utilize its benefits:

Gather the Required Ingredients:

  • White Karisalankanni juice – One small cup
  • Sesame oil – One small cup

Application Method:

  • Mix the Karisalankanni juice and sesame oil in a bowl.
  • Heat the mixture on low flame, stirring frequently until it becomes a paste.
  • Apply the paste directly to the affected areas and wash it off with plain water.

How it Works

White Karisalankanni contains antibacterial and antifungal properties that fight off microbes in the scalp. This helps in hair growth and promotes healthy hair.

Shallots – Nourish and Massage the Scalp

Shallots provide nourishment to the hair roots and promote hair growth. Regular application of shallot paste can lead to visible improvements in hair growth within a few months.

Sunlight – Essential for Hair Health

While direct exposure to the hot sun is not recommended, sunlight in moderation can benefit your hair’s health. Consider the following tips:

  1. Allow your hair to be exposed to sunlight during the early morning hours when the sun is rising.
  2. Avoid prolonged exposure to the sun, especially during peak hours.
  3. Remember to protect your hair and scalp from harmful UV rays by wearing a hat or using a natural sunscreen.
