Embracing Nature: The Ultimate Guide to Natural Hair Dyes Using Henna

May 17, 2024 by sharvayonibeauty Leave a Comment

In the quest for vibrant hair colors and the covering of grays, many of us turn to hair dyes without a second thought to their composition. However, the stark reality is that these conventional dyes are laden with harsh chemicals such as ammonia, peroxide, p-phenylenediamine, diaminobenzene, toluene-2,5-diamine, resorcinol, and more. These ingredients not only pose a risk to our hair’s health, leading to damage from roots to ends and even hair loss, but also to our overall well-being.

Thankfully, nature offers us a bounty of alternatives that can color our hair beautifully without the adverse effects. Among these, Henna (or Mehandi) stands out as not just a personal favorite but also as a testament to the power and gentleness of natural hair dyes. Henna’s use dates back to ancient Egyptian and Indian civilizations, highlighting its long-standing trust and efficacy.

The Henna Advantage

Safety First: For those sensitive or allergic to chemical hair dyes, Henna presents a safe haven. It’s free from ammonia and harsh chemicals, offering a natural path to coloring your hair.

Fosters Hair Growth: Henna is more than just a dye; it’s a natural remedy that nourishes hair from roots to ends, encouraging stronger, thicker growth.

Protection: By coating the hair strands, Henna creates a protective layer that shields the hair from breakage, splitting, and damage from environmental factors like the sun and heat. This layer also adds volume, making thin hair appear thicker.

Health Benefits: Beyond hair care, Henna is known for its therapeutic properties, such as preventing headaches—a common practice in the Middle East—and healing scalp conditions by restoring the scalp’s acid-alkaline balance and preventing dandruff.

Tips for Using Henna

To ensure the best results with Henna, consider the following tips:

  • Moderation is Key: Use Henna no more than once a month to prevent drying and brittleness.
  • Application Conditions: Apply Henna to clean, wet hair for optimal results. Dry hair does not absorb Henna well.
  • Handling: Avoid brushing or combing your hair with Henna in it to prevent damage.
  • Post-Henna Coloring: Should you choose to switch back to chemical dyes after using Henna, wait until the treated hair grows out to avoid unexpected color results. For necessary dyeing, stick to dark colors.
  • Avoid Mixing Oil: Adding oil to Henna can alter its coloring effect and reduce its permanence.

Embracing natural hair dyes like Henna not only aligns with a healthier lifestyle but also pays homage to centuries-old traditions that celebrated beauty in harmony with nature. By choosing natural dyes, you’re not just making a cosmetic choice but a commitment to your health and the environment. Whether you’re looking to revive your hair color or embark on a new hair health journey, the natural path offers a rich palette of possibilities that nourish, protect, and beautify.

Unlike harsh chemicals found in many commercial hair care products, natural hair packs and shampoos act as gentle cleansers that not only clean but also condition your hair. This means that you can use less product while still protecting your precious locks.

One of the best natural ingredients for hair care is Fuller’s earth, also known as Multani mitti. Its immense benefits make it a top choice for those seeking a natural hair protector. When combined with other powerful ingredients like henna and egg white, it becomes a potent blend that nourishes and strengthens your hair from root to tip.

  • Multani mitti (Fuller’s earth)
  • Henna
  • Egg white

  2. Add the egg white to the mixture and gradually incorporate water until it forms a paste-like consistency.
  3. Apply the hair pack onto your hair before bedtime and cover it with a shower cap or a similar covering.
  4. Leave the pack on overnight and rinse it off the next morning using a sulfate-free shampoo.
  5. For optimal results, use this hair pack once a week to cleanse your scalp, promote hair growth, and reduce hair loss.

The Science behind the Remedy:

When used in combination with the right ingredients, Multani mitti acts as a natural shampoo and conditioner, leaving your hair clean, nourished, and protected.

Prevent Premature Grey hair using Henna, Coconut oil and Tea water

July 31, 2020 by sharvayonibeauty Leave a Comment

The hair follicles generate hair and color or pigment cells that comprise melanin. Over the period, hair follicles lose pigment cells, ending in white hair color. Any deficiency of vitamin B-6, B-12, D, E, or biotin can lead to premature graying.

Some products like shampoos and conditioners will lead to premature greying of hair due to the presence of chemicals which decrease your melanin content. Hair dyes comprising hydrogen peroxide and bleaching agents can lead to the white hair when used for prolonged periods.

Natural herbs have given us many solutions to solve grey hair issues and reverse them if you get grey hair. There is a natural hair pack contains henna and other natural ingredients that prevent grey hair.

Things Required:

  • Henna Powder – 1 cup
  • Coconut Oil
  • Lemon Juice – two tablespoons
  • Tea water

How To:

  • Add henna powder and immerse it in coconut oil in a bowl.
  • Add lemon juice and Tea water in a bowl.
  • Stir the mixture well and left it for a day.
  • Next day, apply this henna mix on your hair and leave it for about 1 hour.

Wash your hair with a natural or organic shampoo. Premature greying will stopped if you use this mix twice a month. The person who has a sinus problem should not try this method.

Why it Works:

One of the most frequent uses of neem is our hair care rituals. Neem has high fatty acid content, which is hugely beneficial for scalp health. Neem clears the clogged pores and enhances the growth of hair.

Coconut oil is an active ingredient that helps your hair grow longer, thicker, and faster.

Tea is an excellent toner. Green tea is an efficient solvent for hair growth as they packed with nutrients and antioxidants. Because it is caffeinated, green tea is strong enough to infiltrate the hair’s follicles and deliver a reinvigorating charge.

People with dark hair advised using black or dark-colored tea, deepening their color and darken grays.

Lemon juice can naturally lighten hair, notably lighter hair colors, create shinier hair, and reduce oil and dandruff.

  • Strain it and add sandalwood oil, then use it as a regular shampoo.

Massage it in your scalp thoroughly and rinse it with the warm water. You can preserve it in the bottle and use it regularly. For the best outcomes, use the shampoo twice a week.

For hundreds of years, shikakai has been used for hair care in India. Shikakai used in the form of shampoo to clean hair and even as hair masks. It contains a rich source of Vitamin A, C, D, E, and K.

The Lavender oil promotes hair growth and also has antimicrobial and antibacterial properties, which can improve scalp health. Henna always goes well with shikakai, reetha, amla, neem, aloe vera, and many other natural ingredients.
